La Paz, Jan 16 (Prensa Latina) Food production in Bolivia increased considerably in the last decade, reaching 17 million tons last year, according to data from the Ministry of Rural Development and Land published today.
That figure represents more than double what was harvested in 2005 when only seven million tons would be produced.

Agriculture was one of the sectors with the greatest influence on the rise of the Gross Domestic Product in 2017, with a growth of 7.7 percent.

'We have absolutely guaranteed the food of the entire population,' said Minister of Rural Development and Lands, César Cocarico.

The owner predicts an even greater increase this year, reaching 18 million tons.

The surplus registered in some items led the Government to release in December the export of five products: beef, sugar, sorghum, soybeans, and alcohol.
