KINGSTON, Monday, February 16, 2015- Minister of Health Dr. Fenton Ferguson says the Government, through the Ministry of Health is to spend $54.4 million to implement a Measles Prevention Campaign, which will run from February 16 to May 8, 2015.
The Government has spent more than $620 million to improve the infrastructure of health centres across the island over the period 2012 to 2014. To date, upgrading and expansion works have been completed on 128 facilities, while nine are in the process of being renovated.
Finance and Planning Minister, Dr. Peter Phillips, has again given the Government’s commitment to doing “everything possible” to accommodate claims for salary increases to civil servants for the 2015 to 2017 contract period.
The strategic direction of the Rural Agricultural Development Authority (RADA) for 2015 will be capacity building of its staff and realigning the agency to become more technical in its operations; improve crop and livestock production; and encourage new entrants to the sector, with greater focus on women and youth.
