Agriculture Minister Expects Growth To Continue

Jamaica's agricultural sector is expected to continue its recovery during this quarter. This is the word from Agriculture Minister Derrick Kellieras he spoke with journalists in Montego Bay at a Jamaica House Press briefing at the Office of the Prime Minister in the Western City.

Minister of Agriculture, Labour and Social Security, Hon. Derrick Kellier,  says the scope of investment by Pan-Caribbean Sugar Company Limited at the Frome Sugar Factory in Westmoreland has already resulted in marked increases in the levels of production of sugar, which augurs well for the industry.

Kellier promotes Sea Island Cotton production

The Jamaica Agricultural Development Foundation (JADF) is actively pursuing the revitalisation of the West Indian Sea Island Cotton (WISIC) industry, with plans to have 5,000 acres of cotton under production within the next four years.

Canadian Farm Work Program earns $1.7 billion for Jamaica

KINGSTON, Jamaica January 6, 2015- Minister of Agriculture, Labour and Social Security, Hon. Derrick Kellier, says remittance inflows to the local economy from the Jamaica-Canada Employment Programme during 2014 amounted to approximately $1.7 billion (Cdn$15.5 million).
