GUYANA | Court to decide Legality of Charrandass Persaud's December 21 vote

DPI, Guyana, Saturday, January 5, 2019 - The legality of Charrandass Persaud’s vote on December 21 during the 111th sitting of the National Assembly which saw the coalition APNU+AFC government losing to the Opposition PPP in a no-confidence vote, is being challenged in the Court of Law. Persaud’s dual citizenship is the foundation of the challenge.

Worsening Ebola crisis leaves UN Security Council with few options

The Ebola outbreak in the Democratic Republic of the Congo (DRC) is quickly becoming an international concern. With 489 people diagnosed with the disease and 280 deaths, it is already the second largest Ebola outbreak in history (although still dwarfed by the 2014 West Africa outbreak). While the DRC has a good track record of responding to these outbreaks, the ongoing military conflict in the country is making the response much more difficult.

GUYANA Protests Vezezuela Military Interception of Oil Exploration Vessell

GEORGETOWN, Guyana, December 23, 2018 -The Government of Guyana has lodged a protest with the Government of the Bolivarian Republic of Venezuela,  over its "latest act of illegality and blatant disrespect for Guyana’s sovereignty" following its military's interception of a Norweigan research vessel, the Ramform Tethys, that was conducting seismic oil exploration activities offshore the coast of Guyana on behalf of Esso Exploration & Production, Guyana Limited (Exxon Mobil).
