CARICOM | Colombia is willing to participate in CARIFESTA

GEORGETOWN, Guyana, June 12, 2019 - Colombia’s new Ambassador to the Caribbean Community (CARICOM) on Wednesday said her country will make every effort to participate in the Caribbean mega festival of arts: CARIFESTA XIV, scheduled for August 16-25 in Trinidad and Tobago.

CARICOM and Colombia relations get a boost

GEORGETOWN, Guyana, May 17, 20-19 - The revival of the relationship between the Caribbean Community (CARICOM) and Colombia was given a boost with discussions between CARICOM Secretary-General Ambassador Irwin LaRocque and Colombia’s Foreign Minister His Excellency Carlos Homes Trujillo Gracia on Thursday at the CARICOM Secretariat’s Headquarters in Georgetown, Guyana.

140 Socialist Political Parties Back BDS, Embargo on Israel

The Socialist International, or SI, has endorsed the Boycott, Divestment and Sanctions (BDS) movement in their call for the rights of Palestinian people. In doing so, the organization, which is a global alliance of 140 political parties, as well as 35 parties currently in national governments, urged for a military embargo to be imposed against Israel until it ceases its violations against the Palestinian people.

Despite Cease-Fire, We Keep Dying: Afro-Colombian Activist

An activist for the progressive political movement Marcha Patriotica, Hector Marino Carabali from the Cauca province, went to Havana as part of a delegation of victims representing Afro-descendant communities that have been heavily affected by forced displacements, evictions, torture and murders related to the armed conflict.
