KINGSTON, Jamaica — Canada-based medical cannabis company, Aphria Inc is preparing to expand its business to Jamaica and several countries in Latin American and Caribbean, through a strategic deal with Scythian Biosciences Corp, a pre-clinical research and development company.

Canada lawmakers vote to legalize Weed

OTTAWA, Canada (AFP) — Canada is set to become the first G7 country to legalize cannabis after lawmakers today passed a bill that would allow free consumption of the mind-altering drug.Passed by 205 votes to 82 in the House of Commons, the legislation must still pass the Senate – which could delay, but not block it – and receive royal assent by the governor general before becoming law, likely by September.

Why marijuana fans should not see approval for epilepsy drug as a win for weed

A Food and Drug Administration panel recommended approval of a drug made of cannabidiol on April 19 to treat two types of epilepsy. The FDA is expected to decide in June whether to accept the panel’s 13-0 recommendation to approve Epidiolex, which would would become the first drug made of cannabidiol, a compound in the cannabis plant, to gain approval from the FDA.
