PM Simpson-Miller off to Summit of the Americas

Prime Minister Portia Simpson Miller is leading Jamaica’s delegation to the Seventh Summit of the Americas being held in Panama City, Panama April 10 to 11. The theme of the Seventh Summit is, “Prosperity with Equity: The Challenge of Cooperation in the Americas.

At the Summit of the Americas,  Heads of State and Government of the member states of the Organization of American States,OAS, discuss common policy issues, affirm shared values and commit to concerted actions at the national and regional level to address continuing and new challenges faced by countries in the Americas.

At the Seventh Summit, Cuba will participate in the Summit of the Americas for the first time.

The Prime Minister, who will return Sunday, April 12 has been accompanied by Minister Minister Senator AJ Nicholson; Permanent Secretary in the Office of the Prime Minister, Ms. Onika Miller; and Permanent Secretary in the Ministry of Foreign Affairs and Foreign Trade, Ambassador Paul Robotham.

While the Prime Minister is on official duties in Panama, the Minister of Water, Land, Environment and Climate Change, the Hon. Robert Pickersgill will be in charge of the Government.
