Kenyan Soldiers Attacked Near Somalian Border

Nairobi, Jan 28 (Prensa Latina) Two soldiers of the Kenyan Defense Force (KDF) died when their truck activated a home-made explosive device in Handaro, in the area of Holugho, Garissa county, according to reports in this capital.
According to preliminary reports, it is suspected that the device was planted by followers of the Somalian armed orgabnization Al Shabab, which is confronting the authorities in Mogadishu and its Western allies, and the contingent of the African Union Mission in Somalia (AMISOM).

Garissa county is near the border with Somalia and members of the Somalian group or commandos associated to it are believed to be operating there.

On April 2, 2015, there was an attack against the university in that county that caused the death of 147 people, including four members of Al Shabab.

A Police source detailed that during the attack on Saturday night, other military men that tried to jump from the vehicle were shot by the members of the supposed faction and were seriously injured, the newspaper The Star said.

Those injured were transferred to the Armed Forces Memorial Hospital to be medically assisted.
