KINGSTON, Jamaica — Peoples National Party Senator Wensworth Skeffery, has on the advice of the Leader of the Opposition, Dr Peter Phillips, been appointed by Governor-General Sir Patrick Allen, to serve as nominated commissioner on the Electoral Commission of Jamaica (ECJ), effective January 1.

Skeffery succeeds former Nominated Commissioner Dr Donald K Duncan, whose appointment ended on December 31, 2017.

A release from the Electoral Commission of Jamaica (EOJ) says Skeffery will serve alongside PNP Nominated Commissioner, Julian Robinson.

The Electoral Commission is comprised of nine members. There are four selected independent commissioners:Chairman, Mrs Dorothy Pine-Mclarty, Mr. Justice Carl Harrison, Professor Alvin Wint and Mr. Earl Jarrett. Then, there are four nominated commissioners: two representing the PNP, Senator Wensworth Skeffery and General Secretary Julian Robinson, while Aundre Franklyn and Ton Tavares-Finson represents the JLP and and the director of elections Mr. Orrette Fisher.
