U.S.A. Expects to block Venezuelan Oil Supplies to the Caribbean

Kingston, Feb 7 (Prensa Latina) U.S. Secretary of State Rex Tillerson said today that U.S. possible sanctions against the Venezuelan oil industry will affect fuel supplies to Caribbean countries.
According to Tillerson, the conclusion reached with his counterparts in Mexico and Canada was to create a very small and very focused working group to analyze the consequences of possible sanctions on the Caribbean countries, seeking to lessen the effects.

'Then, President (Donald Trump) can decide what he wants to do,' said Tillerson, after acknowledging that the reprisals would also affect oil refineries on the U.S. Gulf of Mexico coast.

In recent days, Tillerson said that Trump's administration is considering the restriction of imports of Venezuelan crude, as well as exports of refined products from the United States to Venezuela, as a measure of economic pressure against the latter country.

For years, the Caribbean countries have enjoyed special treatment from Venezuela for the supply of energy resources under favorable payment mechanisms for these small economies.
