Addis Abeba, Feb 1 (Prensa Latina) The president of the African Union (AU), Paul Kagame, thanked the leaders and citizens of the continent for entrusting him with key responsibilities to lead Africa in the development goals, the institution reported today.
'To the many leaders and citizens of our continent who sent congratulatory messages but above all gave me their confidence to lead our AU, I thank you immensely and I do not take it for granted. I'll give everything I can to serve you the way it should be! 'Wrote Kagame, also the president of Rwanda, on his personal twitter account.

'In fact, it is double confidence: at first you (the leaders) have asked me to lead the reform process and happy to say that we have made good progress together and we continue to do so,' he added.

Since December of last year, numerous messages for the president were shared in social networks, media or even during Kagama official audiences, to wish him good services as president of the UA in 2018 and the continuing responsibility to reform the block and take it towards self-sustainability.

According to analysts, President Kagame will have heavy tasks ahead, including integration and migration, conflicts and wars; the revitalization of peace efforts in many countries, besides supervising the institutional reforms of the African Union.

The hope of many Africans now lies in the hands of their leaders and, in this case, in Kagame, whose vision and experience helped to rebuild Rwanda from the ashes of the genocide against the Tutsi in 1994.
