GEORGETOWN, Guyana, May 22, CMC – Venezuela’s Ambassador to Guyana has called on the government of Guyana and other governments across the region to intervene as Venezuela’s political crisis deepens with daily clashes between demonstrators and security forces.

HAVANA, Cuba (AFP) — Venezuela's President Nicolas Maduro on Saturday accused the United States of exerting "brutal pressure" on nations in the region to isolate his country, already battered by an economic crisis and domestic political upheaval.
Venezuela has turned to Suriname for its some of its rice supply in exchange for selling oil under the PetroCaribe agreement. This follows a meeting on Friday between President, Nicolas Maduro and his Surinamese counterpart, Desi Bouterse when an agreement on the deal was arrived at in principle.
Venezuela’s President Nicolas Maduro on Tuesday stayed clear of any direct reference to the border controversy with Guyana, but instead said the recent troop deployment had more to do with is country’s fight against drug trafficking.
