Guyana on right track with Sovereign Wealth Fund (SWF) legislation

DPI, Guyana, Tuesday, April 17, 2018 - This country is on the correct path, with regards to the establishment of the Sovereign Wealth Fund (SWF) legislation, before oil production actually starts. This opinion was given following a Cabinet briefing conducted by Commonwealth Economic Adviser, Natural Resources Division, Dr. Daniel Wilde, on the legislation’s main aspects.

British Professor cautions Guyana about its Oil contract with ExxonMobil

GEORGETOWN,  Guyana, (Demerara Waves) March 22, 2018 - A British Professor of Economics and Public Policy, Sir Paul Collier  on Wednesday warned that if Guyana scraps  the ExxonMobil contract that would have disastrous consequences for the country’s investment climate, but he instead recommended strongly that the country beef up its capacity to avoid tax evasion by oil companies.

GUYANA | First ever oil and gas law conference gets underway

GUYANA, Friday, March 09, 2018 - The Chancellor of the Judiciary in collaboration with the Guyana Bar Association is hosting a two-day conference on oil and gas law training development, as the government attempts to fast-track the start of oil production in 2020, to stamp its sovereignty on the location of the Liza field that Venezuela has claimed as its own.
