Zika virus outbreak continues - 200,000 confirmed cases since global emergency

WASHINGTON, Feb. 5, CMC – The Pan American Health Organisation (PAHO) says experts are still grappling to understand the mosquito borne Zika virus even as the world marks one year since a global Public Health Emergency was declared due to the rapid spread of the virus from Brazil to 75 other countries, including most in the Caribbean and Latin America.

CARPHA denies covering up Zika caases in the Caribbean

Dominica confirms seven Zika cases among pregnant women

ROSEAU, Dominica, Sept 7, CMC – Dominica has confirmed that seven pregnant women had contracted the mosquito-borne Zika virus in addition to two other cases of persons with the Guillain-Barré Syndrome (GBS), in which a person’s own immune system damages the nerve cells, causing muscle weakness, and sometimes, paralysis.

US and Cuba to host Zika forum in Havana
