He said that that the type of care given in Cuba's system for foreigners is on the same level of developed countries and has been recognized by groups such as the World Health Organization and Pan American Health Organization, among others.
Cuban Medical Services Marketing Company was created with the aim of marketing, at competitive prices, health services offered in the country's network of clinics, hospitals and health institutions.
Although foreigners must pay for their health care, Miranda specified that Cuban citizens receive their healthcare completely free of charge.
Miranda added that despite the economic, commercial and financial blockade imposed by the United States on the island, the country's health services are in high demand.
Cuban Medical Services Marketing Company has contracts in 22 countries with 57 business and works with more than 140 travel agencies.
It also maintains strategic business alliances in Cuba, including with the Ministry of Tourism, the National Institute of Sports, Physical Education and Recreation, the Ministry of Higher Education, and the Ministry of Public Health, among others.
More than 20,000 patients have received treatment in institutions distributed nationwide, principally near the main tourist destinations: Varadero, St. Lucia, Santiago de Cuba, Pinar del Rio and Holguin.
