Speaking recently at the Caribbean Telecommunications Union (CTU) Summit being held in Port of Spain, Trinidad and Tobago, Minister Williams congratulated the CTU for “surviving and thriving for 30 years and providing policy guidance for the Caribbean in the technology space, now the ICT space.”
Williams also lauded the International Telecommunication Union (ITU) for “its invaluable work in being a vigilant data collector and helping countries to benchmark where they are on the journey towards being digital societies.”
The CTU Summit takes place at Trinidad’s Hyatt Regency Hotel, April 29 to May 3, 2019. The week of activities also commemorate the 15th anniversary of the Caribbean Internet Governance Forum.
The event features the Caribbean FutureScape Experience - a digital exhibition showcasing cutting-edge ICT in real life situations.
Williams praised the conceptualizers of Caribbean FutureScape, that gave conference participants “a chance to not just imagine the digital future but to experience the transformative potential of ICT.”
Caribbean FutureScape is a confederation of 5 Caribbean countries whose governments have collaborated and cooperated to use ICT to accelerate the social and economic development of their countries.
