PORT ANTONIO, St. Thomas - Completing the Port Antonio leg of the Southern Coastal Highway, developing the Rudolph Elders Park and creating jobs for young people at the Port Morant Factories Corporation building and the former Goodyear Factory building are among the things to do list that East St. Thomas Member of Parliament and Labour and Social Welfare Minister, Dr. Fenton wants to complete.
The Ministry of Health has activated its emergency protocols after high levels of absenteeism by Registered Nurses – with an overall average of 52 percent – have been reported at several health facilities across the island.
More than 50 retired health workers have been recognised for their outstanding contribution to the health sector in St. Thomas. At an awards banquet held at the Knutsford Court Hotel, in Kingston, on August 27, the St. Thomas Health Services honoured persons who retired from the Princess Margaret Hospital and the St. Thomas Health Department during the period January 2009 to May 2015.
Minister of Health, Hon. Dr. Fenton Ferguson, is supporting the call from the Western Regional Health Authority (WRHA), for communities in the region to discontinue the illegal practice of removing water from public health facilities, which is threatening the delivery of health services to them.
