JAMAICA | Cabinet Approves Interim Guidelines for Beverages in Schools

KINGSTON, Jamaica, Dec. 6, 2018 - Cabinet has approved the Interim Guidelines for beverages in schools, which will not only help to improve the dietary intake of children but also set the stage to reduce the burden of non-communicable diseases (NCDs), which account for 78 per cent of Jamaicans who die each year.

JAMAICA | Ministry of Health Establishes Medicinal Cannabis Unit

KINGSTON, JUNE 7, 2018 - The Ministry of Health has established a Medicinal Cannabis Unit (MCU) as part of measures to facilitate the medical marijuana industry’s development in Jamaica. JAMAICA | Health Centres seeing significant patient increase

KINGSTON,  February 25, 2018 - There has been a forty one per cent (41%) increase in the number of patients attending the island's  health centres, with an approximate twenty per cent (20%) of these visits occurring as a result of their extended hours.

Gov’t Invests $620 Million in Refurbishing Health Centres

The Government has spent more than $620 million to improve the infrastructure of health centres across the island over the period 2012 to 2014. To date, upgrading and expansion works have been completed on 128 facilities, while nine are in the process of being renovated.
