JAMAICA | Govt must act in the interest of sugar workers in Clarendon, St Thomas

KINGSTON, Jamaica, January 28, 2019: Opposition Shadow Minister of Agriculture and Rural Development, Dr. Fenton Ferguson is calling on the Minister of Commerce, Industry, Agriculture and Fisheries, Audley Shaw and the Cabinet of Jamaica to rethink their position on the closure of the Moneymusk Sugar Factory in Clarendon and the transporting of sugar cane to the Worthy Park and Appleton factories from the parish.

MOCA raids four Parish Councils; Mayors not pleased

KINGSTON, JUNE 29, 2016 - Having raided the offices of the Manchester Parish Council last Friday, the Major Organised Crime and Anti-Corruption Agency (MOCA) supported by the Office of the Contractor General, as part of what is said to be a fraud and corruption probe swooped down on the offices of the St. Cathreine and Clarendon Parish Councils as well as the Portmore Municipality yesterday.
