CARICOM | Balancing Health, Safety and Economics main feature of 2020

CARICOM asks probing questions at UNGA Special Session on COVID-19

On December 3 and 4, some 155 presidents and prime ministers participated in a Special Session of the United Nations (UN) General Assembly, to discuss the coronavirus disease (COVID-19) and the UN response to the pandemic. The meeting was held simultaneously via electronic platforms for heads of state and government and foreign ministers, while ambassadors and diplomats attended in person.

GUYANA | AG says no to visa free entry for Haitians, Walton Desir disagrees

GEORGETOWN,  Guyana, December 5, 2020 - Guyana’s Attorney General Anil Nandlall says Haitians are not entitled to visa free entry to Guyana or consideration under sections of the Fundamental Rights provisions of Guyana’s constitution as Haiti has not signed onto the free movement aspect of the Caribbean Community (CARICOM) Single Market and Economy (CSME).

CARICOM Private Sector Organization and the Caribbean Community Sign MOU

GEORGETOWN, Turkeyen, Guyana, Friday, 4 December 2020  -  The CARICOM Private Sector Organization (CPSO) and the Caribbean Community (CARICOM), on Thursday signed a Memorandum of Understanding, which establishes the legal framework for cooperation and collaboration between the Private Sector and the Community, as mandated by the Conference of Heads of Government of the Caribbean Community. Mr. Gervase Warner, CPSO Chairman, and President and CEO of the MASSY Group, and Ambassador Irwin LaRocque, Secretary-General, CARICOM signed the MOU.

CARICOM | COTED endorses Made in CARICOM initiative

GEORGETOWN, Guyana, Wednesday, 2 December 2020 - Trade Ministers of the Caribbean Community (CARICOM) have unanimously endorsed a proposal to develop a ‘Made in CARICOM’ promotional initiative which will capitalise on one of the opportunities presented by the pandemic.

CARICOM-CUBA a testament to friendship and respect among peoples

MONTEGO BAY, Jamaica, December 2, 2020 -  The 8th of December 2020 will mark the Forty-Eighth Anniversary of the establishment of diplomatic relations between Barbados, Guyana, Jamaica, and Trinidad and Tobago and Cuba. They are  the four CARICOM countries independent at that time.
