JAMAICA | New Voter ID Cards Up to International Standard

KINGSTON,  Jamaica January 29, 2022 - JIS - The national voter identification (ID) cards have been brought up to international standard, with new design and security features added. The cards, which are being distributed by the Electoral Office of Jamaica (EOJ), and are set to expire in 2031, pioneer a new level of identification security for Jamaica.

MONTEGO BAY, December 26, 2021 - As we get ready to commemorate the 190th anniversary of the Sam Sharpe War which began just after the Christmas festivities on the 27th of December 1831 in Kensington, St. James, it is important that we understand the significance of that strike for freedom which became the proverbial straw that broke the back of chattel slavery in the British Caribbean colonies.
