JAMAICA | Save our Boys! Dr. Herbert Gayle appeals to government

MONTEGO BAY, Jamaica  May 10, 2021 - Lecturer in social anthropology at the University of the West Indies, Mona campus, Dr. Herbert Gayle has once again made an appeal for more attention to be paid to ensuring the education of Jamaica's boys who are up to 10 times more likely to become high-risk crime statistics if they do not remain in school to at least complete their secondary education.

EDUCATION | Bridging the Digital Divide; The crisis of Self Directed Learning

One of the policy priorities for the Ministry of Education, Youth and Information in Jamaica is “Bridging the Digital Divide.” This is its most recent policy priority created since the pandemic, albeit I have never seen, read, or heard of its objectives and implementation plan as a whole. Nonetheless, this has piqued my interest as I am in the education sector and have been experiencing growing concerns regarding the significance of self-directed learning in this new dispensation.
