MONTEGO BAY,  January 12, 2021- Reports out of Trinidad and Tobago says prime minister Dr. Keith Rowley is recuperating well, after having angioplasty surgery at the Westshore Private Hospital in Cocorite last Saturday. He was admitted last Friday after complaining of discomfort.

In a statement on Saturday, the Office of the Prime Minister at Whitehall said: "The Prime Minister underwent an angiogram and a subsequent angioplasty which went well."

It said accordance with normal medical procedure he would be kept for observation overnight. In the angioplasty a wire-mesh stent was inserted to widen a clogged artery that was restricting blood flow to the PM's heart.

On Sunday a statement said Rowley had been discharged from hospital and was resting comfortably at his official residence.

There has been no official information as to whether Rowley's doctors had given him the green light to resume work, but one government official said, "He is well and comfortable."

"As far resuming work, if you know the nature of the Prime Minister, will know that he is never not working." said one government official.

Rowley is known as a ‘workaholic’ who often labours into the late hours of the night and being up very early on mornings to work.

The Diplomatic Centre in St Ann's, which shares the same compound as the Prime Minister's official residence, has an office from which Rowley can work, without having to go to the OPM at Whitehall.
