GUYANA | Opposition meets with IRI electoral reform team

GEORGETOWN, May 11, 2021 -  Resident Director of the International Republican Institute (IRI) Dorota Ryzy and local representative Sarah Bharrat have assured Opposition Leader Joseph Harmon that the project to reform the Guyana Elections Commission, (GECOM) is being funded by the United States Department of State and she will not be engaged in any political work.

GUYANA | That Contentious Recount Order Decision: An Examination

GEORGETOWN,  Guyana, April 30, 2021 - So, let's talk. A few days ago the Chief Justice (CJ), Madam Roxane George, dismissed the elections petition which alleged that the Recount Order was unconstitutional. The Recount Order permitted the recount of the votes cast in the March, 2020 general and regional elections. The PPP party prevailed at the close of the recount and was accordingly installed as government. The CJ held that the Order was valid.

GUYANA | Opposition protest Lock-out from National Assembly

GEORGETOWN, Guyana, February 12, 2021 – Guyana’s  Opposition has demanded an apology from House Speaker Mansoor Nadir, for ordering yesterday’s lock-out of several opposition members of parliament, from the opening of the Eighteenth Sitting of the National Assembly which was addressed by Guyana’s President Dr. Mohamed Irfaan Ali.

GUYANA | Any removal of GECOM officials will institutionalise PPP electoral fraud- Harmon

GEORGETOWN, Guyana, February 12, 2021 - While Vice President Bharrat Jagdeo is insisting that the Guyana Elections Commission (GECOM) takes steps to remove the Chief Election Officer Keith Lowenfield and Deputy Chief Election Officer Roxanne Myers, Opposition Leader Joseph Harmon says the removal of the two top administrators would discredit the function and work of the Elections Commission.
