GUYANA | Opposition protest Lock-out from National Assembly

GEORGETOWN, Guyana, February 12, 2021 – Guyana’s  Opposition has demanded an apology from House Speaker Mansoor Nadir, for ordering yesterday’s lock-out of several opposition members of parliament, from the opening of the Eighteenth Sitting of the National Assembly which was addressed by Guyana’s President Dr. Mohamed Irfaan Ali.

GEORGETOWN, Guyana, February 12, 2021 - While Vice President Bharrat Jagdeo is insisting that the Guyana Elections Commission (GECOM) takes steps to remove the Chief Election Officer Keith Lowenfield and Deputy Chief Election Officer Roxanne Myers, Opposition Leader Joseph Harmon says the removal of the two top administrators would discredit the function and work of the Elections Commission.

GUYANA | Opposition Leader seeks CARICOM's position on plight of detained Haitians

MONTEGO BAY, December 5, 2020 - Guyana’s Opposition Leader Joseph Harmon, has written to CARICOM’s Chairman Dr. Ralph Gonsalves outlining the plight of 26 Haitians who were legally landed in that country on November 7, and are being denied their rights by the Irfaan Ali administration under the CARICOM Revised Treaty of Chaguaramas.

GUYANA | Attorney James Bond arrested over land deals; police deny lie-detector claims;

GEORGETOWN, November 24, 2020 - The Jagdeo/Ali administration today continued its apparently ongoing programme to persecute and embarrass opposition politicians by having them arrested and locked up for 72 hours, with this morning's  arrest of well-known lawyer and politician, James Bond who was detained in connection with the lease of government-owned lands.
