JAMAICA | Government back-tracks; all tourists to be tested for COVID-19

KINGSTON, Jamaica, June 12, 2020 - Faced with mounting pressure from civil society, business and tourism sectors of society, the government in a policy reversal, now says as of Monday, all tourists and Jamaicans arriving in the island will be tested for the COVID-19 coronavirus.

JAMAICA | COVID-19 Cases in Jamaica Jumps to 223, Six deaths

KINGSTON, Jamaica April 20, 2020 -  - The number of COVID-19 cases in Jamaica has risen to 223, an increase of 27 new cases in the last 24 hours. The death toll now climbs to six with the deatrh of retired chemist, Professor Emeritus Tara Dasgupta who is linked to the University of the West Indies (UWI) and who tested positive for COVID-19.

JAMAICA | Gov't Snubs Cuban drug used for COVID19, US Blocks Ja Test Kits

KINGSTON, April 16, 2020- As the COVID-19 virus begins to spread within the Jamaican community, Health Minister Christopher Tufton has adbvised parliament, that  the Jamaican Government will not be using the Cuban antiviral drug Interferon Alpha 2B to treat persons battling COVID-19, on the advice of the island's Chief Medical Officer who informed the drug was not globally used.
