JAMAICA | Golding says the $33-billion from BOJ represents profit from the backs of poor people

KINGSTON, Jamaica March 17, 2021 - Opposition Leader Mark Golding says the claim that there will be no new taxes on the Jamaican people is not factual. This is because  “the Jamaican people have already effectively been taxed to the extent of $17.9 billion through the devaluation that has driven the BOJ’s foreign exchange gains over the past three years. This accounts for over half of the $33 billion dividend which he is relying on to finance the budget.”

KINGSTON, Jamaica, March 16, 2021 - Opposition Leader Mark Golding has painted a grim picture of the government’s management of the socio-economic impact of the COVID-19 pandemic on Jamaica, pointing out that the economy has shrunk by over 11% during the past fiscal year, substantially impacting the tourism industry, which comprises over 30% of our economy while entertainment, sports and transportation, have been shut down or hit very hard.

JAMAICA | Bunny Wailer is dead at the age of 73

KINGSTON, Jamaica March 2, 2021 -   Legendary Reggae singer, percussionist, songwriter, Neville O’Riley “Bunny Wailer” Livingston is dead at the age of 73. He died in the Medical Associates Hospital in Kingston this morning.
