JAMAICA | Ja' Government could have done more for the fishermen says ACLU

KINGSTON, Jamaica, June 20, 2019 - Steven Watt, the American Civil Liberties Union (ACLU) attorney for the four Jamaican fishermen who are suing the US Coast Guard for inhumane treatment, says the Ministry was aware of the fishermen’s detention and could have done significantly more to notify family members that the men were in custody.

KINGSTON, Jamaica, Friday June 14, 2019 – The Opposition PNP wants to know whether the detention of five Jamaican fishermen off the coast of Haiti by the United States Coast Guard in 2017 breached the US- Jamaica Shiprider Agreement aimed at controlling the flow of illicit drugs within the Caribbean.
