GUYANA | CARICOM Recount Team to undergo PCR COVID-19 test prior to arrival in Guyana

April 21, 2020.  GEORGETOWN – Chairman of the National Coronavirus Task Force (NCTF), Prime Minister. Moses Nagamootoo has indicated to the Chair of the Guyana Elections Commission that consequent to an intervention by President David Granger, the task force has reviewed its previous decision in relation to the medical protocols for the CARICOM delegation.

GEORGETOWN,  Guyana, April 17, 2020 - The Guyana Elections Commission today moved one step closer towards a final recount of the votes polled in the March 2 General and Regional Elections, with a decision by Chair of the Guyana Elections Commission, Justice Claudette Singh,  that no more than 10 workstations will be used to recount votes from the 2nd March elections, “subject to the availability of the requisite equipment and technology to display the ballots.”

GEORGETOWN,  April 4, 2020 - As the legal hopscotch surrounding the re-count of ballots in Guyana’s March 2 General and Regional elections continue, the Guyana Elections Commission (GECOM) has halted plans for a recount of votes until the Court of Appeal rules on Sunday whether the High Court can legally hear a judicial review of the commission’s decision.

GEORGETOWN, March 27, 2020 - The Guyana Supreme Court says that body has the authority to hear a request for a judicial review of a decision by the Guyana Elections Commission (GECOM) to have a national recount of the votes cast in General and Regional elections on the 2nd of March 2020.

GEORGETOWN, Guyana, March 16, 2020 - The Commonwealth and the Organisation of American States (OAS) have welcomed the decision by President David Granger to ask CARICOM to help with supervising a national recount of votes cast in Guyana’s general elections earlier this month.
