Over 168 million children miss nearly a year of schooling, UNICEF says

(United Nations News) New York, March 3, 2021 - More than 168 million schoolchildren globally missed out on learning in class, as schools in some 14 countries remained largely shut for almost an entire year due to coronavirus-related lockdowns, the UN Children’s Fund (UNICEF) reported on Wednesday.

Abducted girls released in northwest Nigeria, as fresh attacks rock country’s northeast

While the release of more than 200 girls abducted from their school on Friday in northwest Nigeria is a welcome development said senior UN officials there on Tuesday, civilians and aid facilities have come under attack in the country’s northeast, highlighting the plight of civilians who have suffered years of conflict and insecurity.

UNICEF says sanitation initiative in Haiti shows promising results

UNITED NATIONS, Sept 23, CMC – The United Nations Children’s Fund (UNICEF) says a sanitation initiative in south-eastern Haiti has shown encouraging results, with a major reduction in the number of water-borne infections for residents.
