BARBADOS | Central Bank Announces Further Ease Of Exchange Controls

BRIDGETOWN, Barbados, Febrtuary 17, 2020 - The Central Bank of Barbados has with effect from today, a new policy, which will impact several types of foreign currency transactions, which will further liberalise foreign currency transactions, continuing the movement toward more relaxed exchange controls that it began in 2019.

BARBADOS | Government Lab To Test For Novel Coronavirus

BRIDGETOWN,  Barbados, February 12, 2020 - Barbados will soon have the capacity to do its own testing for the novel coronavirus at the Best-dos Santos Laboratory at Enmore. The Pan American Health Organization (PAHO) is providing the testing kits and the technical services of a virologist.

ANTIGUA | Former B'dos Prime Minister appointed LIAT Chairman

St. John's, January 6, 2020 - Former prime minister of Barbados, Owen Arthur, is to take up the Chairmanship of  the Board of Directors for the regional airline, LIAT. Arthur will replace Barbadian Dr Jean Holder who retired last December.

BARBADOS | Deeper Regional Integration will increase B'dos growth prospects says IMF

WASHINGTON, DC, December 16, 2019 - The Executive Board of the International Monetary Fund (IMF) has completed the second review of Barbados’ economic reform program supported by an arrangement under the Extended Fund Facility (EFF). which now allows the authorities to draw the equivalent of SDR 35 million (about US$48 million), bringing total disbursements to the equivalent of SDR 105 million (about US$145 million).
