GUYANA | President Granger heads to Cuba for medical check up

GEORGETOWN, Guyana, October 17, 2019  – President David Granger Wednesday advised that will be travelling to Cuba on Saturday for a medical check-up in relation to his diagnosis of non-Hodgkin Lymphoma for which he has been receiving treatmentt in Cuba since last year.

GUYANA | General Elections could be held by December this year

GEORGETOWN,  Guyana, September 16, 2019 - Despite information from the Chief Elections Officer that it is unlikely that elections can be held before March next year, top representatives of the governing coalition were told by Chair of the Guyana Elections Commission (GECOM), Retired Justice Claudette Singh that she hopes to be ready for elections late this year.

GUYANA | ExxonMobil makes yet another oil find off the coast of Guyana

GEORGETOWN,  Guyana, Sept. 16, 2019 -  ExxonMobil has made yet another oil discovery off the coast of Guyana, adding to the several other finds that have already been made. This time its on the Stabroek Block, offshore Guyana, at the Tripletail-1 well in the Turbot area. This well is being drilled by the Tom Madden drillship.

GUYANA | Russia yet to withdraw “False” statement about UK constructing military base in Essequibo

GEORGETOWN, August 20, 2019 - TGhe Russian Foreign Ministry is yet to withdraw what Guyana says is a false allegation made by Russian Foreign Ministry spokesperson Maria Vladimirovna Zakharova, that Britain was “completing the construction of a military base on one of the islands at the mouth of the Essekibo (sic) River under a plausible pretext – supposedly to stop the smuggling of weapons and drugs.”
