ANTIGUA | LIAT20 Launches Historic Kingston Route, Revolutionizing Caribbean Travel

ST. JOHN'S, Antigua, December 23, 2024 - Regional carrier LIAT (2020) Ltd has launched a groundbreaking nonstop service between Antigua and Kingston, dramatically reshaping travel patterns across the Caribbean region.

The new route eliminates long-standing barriers to inter-island connectivity, doing away with overnight stays and extended layovers that have historically plagued regional travelers. Passengers from five major Caribbean destinations - St. Maarten, Tortola, St. Kitts, Grenada, and Trinidad - can now reach Jamaica's capital in a single day, a development that promises to boost both tourism and business travel.

"This is more than just a new route – it's a complete reimagining of Caribbean air travel," said LIAT20's Chief Executive Officer, Hafsah Abdulsalam. "For the first time, we're providing same-day connections between Jamaica and multiple Caribbean destinations, something that was previously impossible."

Jamaica's Tourism Minister, Hon. Edmund Bartlett, highlighted the strategic importance of the new service: "The addition of LIAT20 to Jamaica's aviation network strengthens Kingston's position as an emerging Caribbean hub. With multiple regional carriers now serving our capital, we're creating robust networks that serve both business and leisure travelers while deepening our regional integration."

The expansion marks a significant milestone for LIAT20, bringing its network to 12 Caribbean territories. The airline now serves Antigua & Barbuda, Barbados, Dominica, Guyana, Grenada, Jamaica, St. Vincent & the Grenadines, St. Kitts & Nevis, St. Maarten, St. Lucia, Tortola, and Trinidad & Tobago, creating one of the most comprehensive regional networks in the Caribbean.

The new Kingston service, operated with LIAT20's modern fleet of ERJ145 and ATR42-600 aircraft, is already available for booking. Passengers can secure their tickets through multiple channels, including the airline's website at www.flyliat20.com, its Customer Experience Centre (+1 268-713-5428), email reservations, airport kiosks at VC Bird International Airport, and authorized travel agents.

LIAT20's expansion comes at a crucial time for Caribbean aviation, as the region sees increasing demand for more efficient inter-island travel. The airline, known for its stellar safety record and commitment to regional integration, has positioned itself as a key driver of economic development across the Caribbean archipelago.

Operating since 2020, LIAT (2020) Limited has built its reputation on operational efficiency and service excellence, demonstrating the viability of regional aviation despite the challenges faced by its predecessor. The Kingston route represents another step in the carrier's mission to redefine Caribbean air travel, making the region more accessible to both residents and visitors alike.
