JAMAICA | West Indies Cricket: Stop Complaining and Eat Your Stew says Curtis Myrie

KINGSTON, Jamaica July 16, 2025 - The "one-don" head coach and selector Darren Sammy, an emperor in too much clothes making his grand entrance in Test cricket as courtyard jester, following his idiotic wholesale replacements to an ably performing team, is being unfairly criticized says a brazen CWI board president, increasingly shallow with every remark.
Serves us right, since we have elected him and his entire administration unopposed for yet another term in office - with an additional year to his and his vice president tenure as an act of good governance.
Stop complaining...and eat your stew.
How quickly do we forget, that board representatives of Guyana and Barbados, twice a no show to effect the lack of a quorum, thus thwarting and invariably stalling the vote on extending the said term in office, expressly because they felt it was not the priority for the pathway to our cricket development, later caved and went along - and thereafter joined, obediently, the entire territorial throng rubber stamping another term for the incumbents.
Stop complaining...eat up, eat up.
I had to listen to most of Mason and Guest on Tuesday night from Barbados, though I am still protesting the absence of the promotion of the programme - telling Mason himself that yesterday, even when still remaining a supportive colleague and friend.
I am not shocked at Shallow. Eat up - and get ready for more of the same because we have meekly facilitated this outcome.
He said on the programme that he accepts some responsibility though he has not told us what it is - and you can expect to fall in a long deep sleep, from which you will have to be aroused by others, waiting on the explanation.
Did Sammy get the job, for which he had no qualifications for, from what was publicly stipulated and posted, because he was St Lucian?'
Was he given added responsibilities, inexplicably so, because expressing that franchise cricket 'stars' would be incorporated into the test team cannot be validated. So, was he given these responsibilities because he was St Lucian?
And is he being defended so stoutly, given the shift of particular 'territorial' administrative appointments, because he was St. Lucian?
One would think, with all this muscular defense, that he would be a part (captain included), actually or by zoom of this emergency meeting, but this is yet to be reported. It would be interesting to learn if his wholesale changes to the team will be a matter for review.
If the president is accepting blame, if even in part, and accountability as a whole, then it is tactless and quite tacky to be spouting territorial insularity when at the centre of all that's contentious is whether or not Darren Sammy has been promoted to his level of incompetence.
It's what the entire Caribbean is considering Dr Shallow for you, your administration and territorial board representatives.
That's quite a stew !
