KINGSTON, JAMAICA. MARCH 26, 2026: The People’s National Party Youth Organization (PNPYO) is calling on Minister of State in the Ministry of Labour and Social Security, Donovan Williams, to immediately step aside from his portfolio following the emergence of grave corruption allegations that threaten to further erode the confidence of young Jamaicans in their leaders.

According to a press reelease from the PNPYO, "the voice notes from his very own Councillor Rosalie Hamilton of the Rae Town Division allege detailed and serious claims against the Central Kingston Member of Parliament, including the alleged facilitation of property destruction by fire, diversion of funds from public road contracts on Wildman Street, Sutton Street, as well as Allman Town, and the use of fraudulent documents to misappropriate resources meant for vulnerable citizens."

“Every day, young people watch as allegations of corruption swirl around those in power, yet they see little consequence. This breeds deep apathy and convinces too many that their voices do not matter,” said Peta-Gay Ferguson, General Secretary of the PNPYO.

“The Minister now faces a catalogue of troubling claims that have continued to mount over the last few years. With so many questions surrounding the distribution of already scarce social security resources, he cannot continue to hold public office while this cloud hangs over him.”

The PNPYO insisted that the relevant authorities must investigate the matter thoroughly and without delay. Ferguson added that stepping aside is not an admission of guilt but a necessary act of respect for the integrity of the office and the young people who desperately need to believe that public service is not a shield for self-enrichment.

The PNPYO is also calling on youth arms across the political spectrum, including Generation 2000 (G2K) and Young Jamaica, to join in defending the principles of transparency and accountability. Silence in moments such as these only deepens public distrust and widens the growing apathy among young Jamaicans. This is a time for collective leadership, not selective outrage.

“Until the air is cleared, the Minister owes it to the youth of this country to step down. We demand accountability, not excuses,” Ferguson concluded.
