KINGSTON, Jamaica. July 18, 2024: Opposition Spokesperson on Justice Senator Donna Scott-Mottley  welcomed Justice Marva McDonald Bishop in her new role as the President of the Court of Appeal, while acknowledging the exceptional contributions of Justice Patrick Brooks.

In a statement the Senator Donna Scott-Mottley extended heartfelt congratulations to Justice Marva McDonald Bishop who was sworn in today, on her historic appointment as President of the Court of Appeal. Justice McDonald Bishop is the first woman to hold this esteemed position, marking a significant milestone in Jamaica's judicial history.

Justice McDonald Bishop brings a wealth of experience, exceptional legal acumen, and a deep commitment to justice to her new role. Her career has been marked by numerous achievements and a steadfast dedication to the rule of law.

As she takes on this new and challenging role, we are confident that Justice McDonald Bishop will continue to uphold the highest standards of judicial conduct and lead the Court of Appeal with distinction.
