“Mr. Vegas” bashes Mark Golding, Julian Robinson at Jamaica Embassy Protest in Washington DC

WASHINGTON DC,  June 15, 2024 --The demonstration organized  by members of the Jamaican Diaspora to protest what they say has been the inability of the Jamaican Government to manage crime, violence and corruption in the country, took place on Saturday  in front of the embassy in Washington.

This followed similar protests in front of the Jamaican consulate in Miami and New York, a few weeks ago.

The demonstration is organized by the Jamaica Diaspora Crime Intervention and Prevention Task Force led by Dr. Rupert Francis and  Wilfred Rattigan is expected  to take place in London and Ottawa in the next few weeks.

Jamaican entertainer Mr. Vegas, took centre stage in front of the Jamaican embassy in Washington, as he lashed out at PNP leader Mark Golding and MP Julian Robinson, for their family's constitutionally accepted citizenship in the commonwealth, as well as the Opposition PNP, instead of promoting Brand Jamaica as he promoted in his video.| Photos by David. C. Welsh Today’s demonstration however, had an interesting twist: One of Jamaica's more popular entertainers, known as 'Mr. Vegas',  led a group of demonstrators in bashing the Opposition PNP, particularly Opposition Leader Mark Golding, as well as  Opposition Spokesman on Finance and the Public Service Julian Robinson in relation to their constitutionally accepted Commonwealth citizenship.

A video has been circulated last week with “Vegas” urging people to join him in front of the Jamaican Embassy on Saturday January 15 to promote Brand Jamaica. Today however, Vegas was seen, replete with a bull horn, under the watchful eyes of the US Secret Service and the Metropolitan Police, vehemently excoriating the Opposition Leader, rather than promoting Brand Jamaica.

The other members of the Jamaican Diaspora who organized the demonstration in the first place, were vocally protesting the Jamaican government’s inability to manage crime, violence and corruption in the country,

They also called on the government to correct the failing health system and to account for the millions of dollars in donation from the diaspora that has gone to the failing education and health sectors.
